If I was a trained or any sort of professional programmer, I would not be wasting my time with rookies trying to setup a "Private Server". You can alter it, but I would not say 'dramatically' as that is an overgeneralized statement. MapleStory is MapleStory just like Gunz Online is Gunz Online and Ragnarok is Ragnarok. In my honest opinion, it would not be possible to alter MapleStory's game-play entirely as that would mean altering the roots entirely (you would be better off setting a new MMO up). These people enjoy playing around with NPCs, enjoy coming up with new features, finding better ways to improve their source and perhaps even re-shape their server, pulling it away from conventional private servers. We then have a group of people that aims to setup a server for the purpose of 'earning a quick buck' and to 'make a profit', hence, the lack of care given into refining the server source and adequate work on community management to ensure the game addresses the player's needs to gain their satisfaction.Īlthough rare, there is also a group of people that enjoys setting up servers due to the 'interest factor'. The server would become a central server where all players would accumulate and the GMs would know how to speak English rather than run around the server unhidden while abusing their powers. I think we should, instead of bashing each other and e-bitching as most members of the MapleStory development community do, work together (or at least get some professionally trained staff) to create a server that would topple the shitty RydahMS, for what reasons they are ranked 1st I do not know why, (sorry ch1nkay). So far, I've only seen FarmerStory do something that was new the rest of the servers in the history of MapleStory have failed to do so.
There are two different players in MapleStory private servers: the ones who spam genesis in order to gain 300,000,000,000 rebirths for a max stat item or the ones who choose to socialize and talk in FM. Come to think of it, most private servers suck. I've been waiting for a server that has trained or professional programmers rather than students who learn java developing through the usage of websites and useless books.
I've been waiting for a server that strives to alter the MapleStory gameplay dramatically away from the grindfest and just talking to friends in FM: the only two things you can do in a private server. Why do people even bother creating a server that disappoints players in qualitative aspects, yet they claim that their server will become popular? As I browsed the MapleStory recruitment section, I predicted that 99% of the servers that recruit people in that section will never exceed a population of 10 players at a time.
